How to combine Eclipse and Xcode (Mac OS X Yosemite)[message #1705883]Wed, 19 August 2015 19:33

I am new to C++, working mostly with Java. I need to do a couple of projects in C++. I use Eclipse Luna for Java, and would like to continue using Luna for C++ projects as well.
I downloaded and installed CDT for Luna.
I also downloaded from Apple store and installed Xcode7, for C++ development on Mac.
Questions:
1. When I tried to start a new C++ project, Luna does not see Xcode 7 C++ toolkit. How to make Luna aware that I want it to use Xcode tools (like C++ compiler, etc.)?
2. When I tried to open Xcode, it gives me its own C++ development environment. But I want to work on Eclipse. Should I not to open Xcode at all?
Bottom line: How can I work with C++ on Luna using Xcode tools?

After upgrading to yosemite, java 6 jdk is no longer available, remember that jdk 6 for mac osx is a 32-bit application, older eclipse releases needs a 32-bit jvm in order to run properly, a 32-bit application cannot run with a 64-bit jvm like java 7 or 8, so you need to install jdk 6 to run those java applications that needs a 32 bit virtual machine. Hello Monica,
Welcome to Gauge!
To resolve your issue, can you please try the following steps:
  • Make sure you are using latest version of Gauge-IntelliJ plugin i.e v0.0.15.
  • In case of Mac OS, Gauge is installed in /usr/local/bin location by default. You can check this location by command which gauge.
  • Add this install location to PATH environment variable.
  • Open IntelliJ IDE from command-line, so that it gets env variables you have set: open /Applications/IntelliJ*.app

I installed Guage and were able to run the spec from command line, however, after I installed the Eclipse/IntelliJ plugins (I tried both), I cannot create a Gauge project, getting error not finding gauge executable in PATH or GAUGE_ROOT. I tried to set the variables in environment.plist with the 'launchctl setenv ...' commands, and were able to see this variables set in the terminal (after reboot). After rebooted both the OS and IDEs, still getting the same errors.
Has anyone run into this same issue, and how do you resolve it?
